Here are the details:

We will be raising money for The Children's Hospital. This is a time of year when they often get neglected and can really use the money.

The satellite games will be held:
Saturday March 7th @ 12 pm AND 7 pm
Saturday March 14th @ 12 pm AND 7 pm
FINAL TABLE on Saturday March 28th @ 7pm

There will be 5 simultaneous games during each session totalling 25 separate games. Each table will start with (hopefully) 10 players.

The Rules:
1) As stated above, each table will start with 10 players. Tables will combine as players are knocked out until there is 1 table left. The last two people standing at that table will advance.
2) Entry is $20 as per last year, which starts each player at $5000 in chips.

Rebuys will be available up to the second blind raise each game and will cost $10 for $3000 in chips. If you have not taken your rebuy by the end of the second round, you can purchase the rebuy as an add on.

3) Entry fee is due on the day of the game(s).
4) Particpants may sign up for more than one game, up to as many as five games.
4) If you sign up for a game and do not cancel or reschedule within 48 hours of the date of the game you are still obligated to pay the entry fee. This will be counted as a donation to the charity.
**EXCEPTION - If you find a replacement player then you are no longer liable, the entry fee becomes their responsibility. Just let me know that you are sending a replacement.
5) Donations will be accepted during the games - just come down and give us your money!

Rules will be added as needed.

TO PARTICIPATE:
Send me a message stating what date(s) you would like to participate. This is first come-first served. If you would like to bring a guest please be sure to include their full name to avoid any confusion. And please, do tell your friends!

Please let me know if you would like to participate!!!! Location of the tournament is:

EZ Pickins
1950 S Holly St
Denver, CO 80222
(303) 757-7129

How will you be spending New Year's Eve?
At a Masquerade ball.

4.
Sitting on a bench...synching up each lace tighter than the last. Wrapped twice around the ankles, and tying a nice bow knot. Two wraps of tape around the knot and ankles. Socks pulled down over the tape. Sitting back. Eyes closed, as if foreseeing the future. A deep breath in through the nose, a chill to the air freezes the lungs. Eyes closed. Gloves on, Stick in hand. Eyes open. Looking around. Standing up. Realizing the new balance. Walking to the ice. Eyes closed, once more a deep breath, taking in the fresh icy air. Two steps and on the ice. The first stride gives the familiar sound of ice crackling. The second stride produces the same. Eyes closed. In this moment, there is nothing more than me and ice. No other thoughts, just me and the ice. Eyes open, with each stride it gets colder, yet more clear. It is nothing more than ice. If I fall, it will hurt. Strides more steady, and accelerating speed, feet crossing over to handle the turn. Suddenly, a snow storm, from a sudden stop. Eyes closed. The strides begin again, faster, and more aggressive. More speed is needed, turning, accelerating, missing a step. I fall. With a thud I go down on my side, sliding into the board. A moment to assess the pain and damage. I knew it would hurt. On one knee, then both, back on my feet, slowly taking stride after stride. Eyes closed, side hurts, there is still nothing more than me and the ice. The strides increase, acceleration, as the pain diminishes. I know if I fall again, it will hurt. I keep on skating. Just me and the ice.

Colorado's pirate reenactors, as it turns out, don't just put on their eye patches and peg legs for the Renaissance Festival. The Colorado Rogues' 115 members will don their ruffled blouses any chance they get. "You've heard of Civil War reenactors? We're reenacting what it's like to live and be a pirate in the golden age of sails," says Joshua Thomas, the group's "Commodore Amon."

So why not host a benefit for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, where they can lay siege to blood disorders? The Rogues have been doing blood drives for a long time, partly because it's "cute" for pirates to give blood instead of take it, Thomas says. This time, they fight for blood!

All plasma puns aside, today's event will include a historically accurate five-course meal from 4 p.m. to midnight at Cafe Netherworld, 1275 Pennsylvania Street, with music from Caustic Soul, Becky Atchley, Pandora Celtica and Whirly Jig. Tickets are $20 in advance at the restaurant or $25 at the door. There will be door prizes, a silent auction and a cash bar.
